Frequently asked questions

Find answers to the most common questions about Drivepoint's cars and services.

Buying a car

Viewings, car information, reservations, paperwork and payment.

What kind of cars does Drivepoint sell?

We are a car dealer in Bucharest selling carefully selected used cars, mostly premium models. The current stock is on the Cars in stock page, with the price, mileage and specifications of every car.

What information is in a car listing?

Every listing shows the VIN, year, mileage, engine, gearbox, drivetrain, equipment, photos, the price including VAT and the VAT treatment. When we have the history report, you can download it as a PDF from the car's page.

It also shows the included warranty, where the car is located and an estimated finance payment.

Can I see the car and take a test drive?

Yes. Cars in stock are available for viewings and test drives. Please book ahead so the car is ready when you arrive. We are open Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 17:00, and Saturday, 11:00 to 15:00.

Where are the cars?

Our address is Strada Biharia 67-77, Building G, Metav Business Park, District 1, Bucharest. Each car's exact location is shown in its listing; if a car is not at our address, the listing says where it is.

How do you check a car's history?

We select and check cars before they join the stock: available history, mileage, service and any damage. The VIN is shown on every listing, so you can run your own checks too.

Can I ask for an independent inspection before buying?

Tell us at the start that you want a check at a garage of your choice, and we will tell you how we can arrange it for that car.

Can I reserve a car?

Yes. A car in stock can be reserved, and its listing then shows “Reserved”. We agree the reservation terms beforehand and put them in a reservation contract.

What do “VAT deductible” and “VAT included, not deductible” mean?

This is the car's VAT treatment. With “VAT deductible”, the VAT is shown separately on the invoice, and the listing also shows the price without VAT. A VAT-registered company can reclaim it in full or only 50%, depending on how it uses the car and on the conditions in the Romanian Fiscal Code; check your company's situation with your accountant. With “VAT included, not deductible”, the price shown is final and the VAT cannot be reclaimed. Each car's treatment is written next to its price.

How can I pay for the car?

In full by bank transfer, or with financing: a finance or operating lease for companies, a car loan for individuals, or a foreign loan without VAT for VAT-registered companies. We explain the options before you buy.

What paperwork do I get?

We sign the sale contract and you receive the invoice, the car's documents and the warranty documents. The exact list depends on the car and how you pay; we tell you before signing.

Financing

Lease, car loan, down payment and eligibility. Final terms are set by the lender.

What financing options do you offer?

We work with financial partners on four options: a finance lease for companies and sole traders, an operating lease for companies, a car loan for individuals, and a foreign loan without VAT for VAT-registered companies.

How does a finance lease work?

A lease suits companies and sole traders buying the car on the business. The down payment is 15% to 50%, the term 12 to 60 months and the residual value 1% to 20%. At the end, once the residual value is paid, the car belongs to the company.

Can I buy the car on a loan as an individual?

Yes, with a car loan. The down payment can start at 0%, depending on income, and the term is up to 60 months. Approval is based on your consent to an ANAF income check, with at least 3 months at your current job. You own the car from day one and can repay early.

How do I find the payment for a specific car?

On every car page in stock you can estimate the payment on its own price, for a lease or a loan, by choosing the down payment and term. The figures are indicative; the firm offer comes from the lender.

What is VAT-free external credit?

It is financing for companies buying a car from an EU supplier, calculated on the car's net value. It has the structure of a loan, not of a finance lease. The exact terms are in the lender's offer.

Who can apply for the financing?

Companies with a valid VAT number that meet the lender's criteria. These differ from case to case; we check eligibility before the offer and cannot guarantee approval.

Is a valid VAT number required?

Yes. For an intra-Community supply without VAT the company needs a valid VAT number, which we check in VIES where it applies.

Does it mean I no longer pay VAT?

Not necessarily. The foreign invoice can be without VAT, but the intra-Community acquisition is declared in Romania, where VAT is due and, if the company has the right to deduct, can be deducted within the limits of the law. For cars the deduction is 50% or 100%, depending on use. Confirm with your accountant.

Who owns the car?

Your company owns the car directly, from the moment of purchase.

What is the interest rate? (external credit)

Interest is 3.99% + EURIBOR and applies to a balance 21% lower than with a finance lease, because the financing starts from the net value. The final offer, with every cost detailed, comes after the application is reviewed.

How long does approval take?

Approval usually takes 24–48 hours, and the whole process 2–5 working days on average from the moment the documents are submitted.

What are the costs of the financing?

Interest is 3.99% + EURIBOR; any fees and separate costs appear in the offer with every cost detailed. The calculator on the page is a simulation, not a firm offer.

Can I buy a car from Germany?

In principle yes, if the supplier can invoice under the rules of an intra-Community supply and the car and the company fit the lender's requirements. We check the supplier and the car before the offer.

What documents are needed? (external credit)

Usually the company's identification details, articles of association, ID documents of the administrator and shareholders, financial statements and the car's documents. The lender confirms the final list.

Can I repay early?

It depends on the financing contract. The conditions for early repayment, including any fee, are in the lender's offer.

How is it different from a finance lease?

The credit has the structure of a loan: the buyer is usually the owner from the purchase. With a finance lease, the lender stays the owner until the last obligation is paid. Accounting and tax treatment differ, so check with your accountant.

Can a new company get a lease?

Yes, you can apply as a recent company. Approval depends on the lender's review and is not guaranteed.

Is it possible without a balance sheet?

You can apply even if the company has no annual balance sheet yet, depending on the lender's conditions. If there is a trial balance, you can attach it to the application.

What is the minimum down payment?

The minimum down payment is 30% of the car's value, for the product shown.

How much can be financed?

The product's ceiling is €40,000 + VAT.

What is the interest rate? (new companies)

Interest is 4.99% a year. The final offer, with every cost, comes after the application is reviewed.

How old can the car be?

The product finances cars up to 5 years old.

Can I finance a car from Germany?

It can be reviewed, but purchases from other EU countries have their own conditions. For them see VAT-free external credit, or tell us the car you want.

Can I apply if the company is not VAT-registered?

You can send the request. A company that is not VAT-registered does not deduct VAT, and conditions may differ; we confirm them with the lender.

What documents are needed? (new companies)

Usually a copy of the CUI, the articles of association, ID copies of the administrator and shareholders and, if there is one, the latest trial balance. The lender may ask for others.

What happens if the application is rejected?

We tell you the reason the lender gives us and what options you have, for example a larger down payment or another car. You are not obliged to buy.

Can I choose a car to order?

Yes, we can search for the car by budget and equipment. It must meet the product's conditions: no more than 5 years old and within the ceiling.

Warranty

What warranty you get, what it covers and how to extend it.

Do the cars come with a warranty?

Yes. Eligible cars in stock come with 12 months of warranty included in the price, with the DEFEND COMFORT package, covering mechanical and electrical components. Each car's warranty is shown in its listing.

Can I extend the warranty?

Yes, at extra cost, to 24 or 36 months with wider cover: the ADVANTAGE package (adds electronic components) or DIAMOND (the claim limit goes up to the purchase price). The package available depends on the car's age and mileage.

How much does the extended warranty cost?

The price depends on the car, the package and the term, and is paid once. We tell you the exact cost for the chosen car before signing.

Who provides the warranty?

The warranty is a DEFEND Car Protect product, issued by Defend Insurance Group and insured by Fortegra Europe Insurance Company. We help you choose the package and handle the paperwork. The exact cover, limits and exclusions are those in the insurance contract.

Car sourcing

When the model you want isn't in stock: search, checks, import and delivery.

What does sourcing a car to order mean?

If the model you want isn't in stock, we search for it by your budget, engine and equipment, check it and guide you through the purchase, paperwork and delivery.

Where do you source cars from?

We search through dealers, auctions and professional platforms across Europe, including dealer-only channels, before cars reach public listings.

How do you check a sourced car?

Before recommending it, we review the available history, mileage, equipment, any damage, the price, the documents and the terms of sale.

What does sourcing cost?

Costs depend on the car, the country it comes from and transport. We set them out clearly before the purchase, so you know the final price from the start.

Do sourced cars come with a warranty?

Yes, a car sourced to order can have a warranty of up to 36 months. The same rules apply as for the other cars; the details are on the warranty page.

How does the car get to me?

We arrange transport, preparation and handover, with the details explained beforehand. If you need financing, we prepare it ahead of the purchase.

What details do I send for a sourcing request?

The make and model you want, your budget, the minimum year, the maximum mileage and, optionally, must-have equipment and how you plan to pay. Fill in the form on the Car sourcing page and we will contact you.

Selling a car

How to sell your car through Drivepoint. Each option has its own page with the details.

What is the difference between buy-back, trade-in and consignment?

With buy-back, Drivepoint buys your car directly. With a trade-in, your car's value goes towards a car from our stock or one sourced to order, and you pay the difference. With consignment, the car stays yours and is kept at our car lot while we sell it for you, under a contract.

Which option suits me?

For a quick sale with a single counterpart, choose buy-back. If you are getting another car from us, trade-in. If you want us to sell the car to an end buyer, consignment. We can recommend an option after the valuation.

Does the valuation cost anything?

No, the valuation is free. Fill in the form with your car's details and we come back with the valuation and next steps.

What details do I send for a valuation?

Make, model, year, mileage, engine, gearbox and the VIN (field E on the registration certificate). Optionally, your asking price, the car's condition and up to 15 photos: exterior, interior, the dashboard with the mileage and any defects.

How do I get paid?

Payment is by bank transfer, once the paperwork is complete, on the agreed terms.
